Brent is an ex miner who struck gold when he and his partner Gail won the Irish sweepstake, bought a derelict junk shop and started a house clearing business called The Clampitts. What to many is a family tragedy is a lucrative opportunity to the Clampitts. Hoovering up the debris of peoples' lives - the hideous sideboard nobody wants; the nick-nacks and keepsakes and photos of dead families, the Clampitts reject nothing - though they may take a sledgehammer to some of it.
In the junk shop, local characters gather to gossip over new acquisitions and their late owners. Among them, an elderly brother and sister with a genuine antiques collection of their own, who confide that they're leaving it all to the Clampitts themselves - a prospect Gail contemplates with relish. But then Ron falls sick and suddenly business gets personal...
